First and foremost, I’d like to apologize – to my blog and to my (actual) readers for neglecting my blog.I admit I have pushed it aside and have paid zero attention to it despite the little voice in my head saying that I need to provide an update. April had been a hectic month for me but the truth is that I have not had a strong motivation or a topic of interest that I’d like to share my thoughts on. The creative juices have not only been scarce in my writing and thoughts – but also in my paintings and sketching. Although I am going through a lack of inspiration – I cannot stop writing even if I feel as if I have nothing to write about.
So, with that said – I will provide a random update on my adventurous (not so much) life.
-I got a haircut and color (Thanks Old Roomie! – Go Follow Her IG @HairByLauraHilger) which is a big deal because I tend to spontaneously cut my hair off myself..
-I am finally on Book 3/3 of Narcopolis – an incredible read about users of opium based in Bombay.
-Still volunteering at the IMA! Everyone needs to see the Spring Bloom Exhibit. It’s L O V E L Y.
-Took an amazing trip to the East Coast (DC & NY) to visit a few dear friends. I just want to give a shout out to DC people, especially the cops, you guys are so friendly and welcoming! Also, HK Lounge I love you. To the Drag Queen – I may have looked terrible to you, but that’s because I don’t dirty dance for everybody. 😉 Thanks for the shots though gal pal.
-Tickets for SAMF bought thanks to an amazing friend, which is a month from now. I am SO excited to finally cross this off my bucket list!
-I’m still falling over things, keeping it clumsy. You know how I do.
-I may have put on 10 pounds – probably all the BDUBS I consume on Boneless Thursdays. (Food is love)
-Speaking of Food – Tried my first POKEE bowl in NY! (What do you call people like me? A Noob? Bhahaha)
-My life has switched from socializing 24/7 to a work life that consists of 8-5PM days, followed by intense binging of Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix, and the occasional Zumba/work-out.
-The hate that I once fostered for Indy has blossomed into appreciation and love. These days, I really don’t know if I could ever leave this place. How did I hate it so much before? It keeps getting better and better.
I will say that the new “lifestyle” or whatever, definitely beats the rushed and chaotic life that consisted of running back and forth between work, school, events, friends, etc. There was a time where I stayed very involved in everything from undergraduate events to community ones. This, did not really provide me any time I needed to put towards myself or my career. Ah, maybe that is what has changed about me? A transition from an overly active schedule to a more idle, less anxious, one – which I enjoy wholeheartedly more. I will have to write separately about why I chose to quit the busy life. Until then – here are some pictures from my trip to DC & NY! Enjoy.
PS. Special shout out to my lovely friend Anoosh, who took these pictures of me. I never asked her to take each one and she did so, eagerly. Let it be known that I will never complain or become annoyed if she asks me to take 23082308 pictures of her , which is typically the case. Apologies on the poor quality. I was too nervous to bring Albert along this trip.
So sunny – I had to close my eyes.
If you’re a close friend of mine, you will understand this picture very well.
Feeling on top of the world in this one.
When Anoosh forces you into a photoshoot at the Freer and Sackler Galleries/Garden.
Unicornsssss – inside joke.
